Isaiah S. Gant

Isaiah “Skip” Gant is currently an assistant federal public defender who, serving as National Capital Resource Counsel, a project of the Administrative Office of the United States District Courts, provides training, consultation and direct representation assistance to federal public defender offices throughout the country in capital cases. Gant has previously served as an attorney with the Federal Public Defender Office and the Capital Case Resource Center of Tennessee in Nashville, and in 1991, he was engaged as the defense consultant for the Judge Advocate General in a military capital case in Bamberg, Germany. He spent four years in Cambodia (1996-2000) as director of the International Human Rights Law Group’s Cambodia Defender Project training defense lawyers, and as a United Nations consultant/mentor to the judges and prosecutors in the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in Cambodia. Gant is a 1969 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and 1974 graduate of its law school.
